Instructors

One of the unique aspects of our Student Success Seminars is that our GSD 101 class is taught almost exclusively by EKU staff who are committed to student success and support our mission and vision. These instructors tend to become students' primary faculty connection to the university and are often the first to share in the students' struggles and successes.

The call for instructors and application process will open in February. Candidates will be selected for interviews in March. Candidates who are selected to teach must attend 2 full-day certification trainings during the summer and complete 2 hours of professional development requirements during the fall semester.

To be eligible to teach GSD 101, EKU employees must be classified as exempt staff and have the support of their immediate supervisor. Applications to teach will be posted in February and candidates will be selected for interviews in March. Candidates who are selected to teach must attend training sessions during the summer and complete professional development requirements during the fall semester.

Throughout the summer and fall, the Office of First Year Courses offers substantial support to instructors, including a customized handbook, professional development opportunities, curricular support, and frequent communication regarding campus events and activities.
